Director Of Pharmacometrics- Clinical Pharmacology

The Director - Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacometrics leads a team of pharmacometricians within the Global Development Organization and Clinical Pharmacology function, balancing hands-on project work with strategic leadership. This role drives model-informed drug development strategies, establishes robust quantitative clinical pharmacology workflows, and elevates the impact of pharmacometrics across the full clinical development lifecycle. The Director champions the value of model-informed approaches to internal leadership and cross-functional partners, and collaborates with functions such as Regulatory Affairs and Medical Affairs to extend these strategies into both development and post-marketing settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee pharmacometric deliverables that support project teams, ensuring high scientific quality, timely execution, and meaningful impact on decision making.

• Define, guide, and continuously refine the pharmacometrics strategy for development programs, including the design and execution of model-informed drug development plans.

• Ensure high-quality preparation of pharmacometric components for scientific reports, regulatory submissions, and responses to health authority inquiries.

• Provide scientific and technical leadership to pharmacometrics staff, promoting excellence in modeling methodologies and effective communication at all organizational levels.

• Support clear, impactful communication of pharmacometric and clinical pharmacology results to diverse internal and external audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.

• Collaborate closely with Clinical Pharmacology colleagues and cross-functional partners to improve efficiency, alignment, and innovation across drug development initiatives.

• Advance model-informed drug development standards by incorporating best practices from the scientific community to enhance workflows, processes, and analytical rigor.

• Establish, implement, and continuously improve workflows, tools, and training programs that strengthen pharmacometrics capabilities within Clinical Pharmacology, with a particular focus on developing pharmacometric leads.

• Develop, mentor, and grow team members, enhancing their technical, pharmacometric, and communication skills and supporting their professional development.

• Build and maintain a network of preferred external pharmacometrics experts to support advanced or specialized analyses when needed.

• Promote scientific visibility of the group through conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications, ensuring dissemination of insights and research outcomes to the broader scientific community.

• Contribute hands-on to modeling and simulation activities using appropriate quantitative tools in a regulated drug development environment, serving as an expert practitioner when required.

• Apply and communicate model-informed drug development strategies to support key decisions across the clinical development of small molecules, biologics, and alternative therapies.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in pharmacometrics and/or quantitative clinical pharmacology.

• Proven ability to design, communicate, and apply model-informed drug development strategies across the clinical lifecycle.

• Deep understanding of pharmacometrics contributions to successful clinical development of small molecules, biologics, and alternative therapies.

• Demonstrated expertise in hands-on modeling and simulation using appropriate quantitative tools in a regulated drug development environment.

• Strong regulatory experience, including authorship and preparation of pharmacometric sections in regulatory submissions and responses to health authority information requests.

• Proven leadership experience in managing people and leading complex projects within pharmacometrics or quantitative clinical pharmacology.

• Demonstrated proficiency with pharmacometric software tools for non-linear mixed effects modeling, data manipulation, physiologically based pharmacology, and systems pharmacology modeling, including Julia/Pumas, R (RStudio), and NONMEM.

• Proficiency with standard office software, including the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex quantitative concepts to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• PhD preferred with specialty training in pharmacometrics or a closely related quantitative discipline; an appropriate MS or PharmD with relevant experience is also applicable.

• Experience applying model-informed drug development to support critical drug development decision making across phases 1-4.

• Experience leading a team with diverse backgrounds and skills in pharmacometrics or quantitative clinical pharmacology.

• Track record of developing individuals' pharmacometric and communication skills, including coaching, mentoring, and talent development.

• Experience promoting scientific visibility through conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

• Familiarity with oncology therapeutic area development is beneficial.

• Comfort working across functions such as Regulatory Affairs and Medical Affairs to integrate quantitative clinical pharmacology into broader development and post-marketing strategies.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $230000.00 - $250000.00/yr.
