Senior Full Stack Engineer
Intuitive Surgical
Intuitive Surgical seeks a Senior Full Stack Engineer to develop backend services, APIs, and web applications for the Ion robotic platform, supporting minimally invasive lung biopsy workflows. The role involves designing scalable, testable software integrated with clinical and operational systems, with flexibility for remote work.
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services and APIs supporting robotic fleet and application workflows
- Implement comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end testing within CI pipelines
- Establish CI/CD, observability, and operational practices for frequent, high-confidence releases
- Partner with embedded, infrastructure, and data teams to deliver data-driven solutions
- Collaborate with design, product, security, and quality teams on compliance and user experience
Requirements
- Backend services and API development in TypeScript, Go, Python, Java, or equivalent language
- Modern front-end development with React, Vue, Svelte, or similar frameworks
- GraphQL, REST, or gRPC API design with versioning and backward compatibility
- Relational database experience (Postgres) and transactional system design
- Automated testing, GitLab CI/CD, and AWS deployment practices
- Docker, Kubernetes, or Amazon container orchestration technologies
- Distributed systems understanding: reliability, failure handling, observability
