Rehab Technician

Job Overview We have an exciting opportunity for a rehab tech to support our rehab team at M Health Fairview Southdale Place Clinic in Edina! The rehabilitation technician is responsible for assisting therapists in providing safe, efficient, and effective delivery of patient care by preparing patients for their therapy session, assisting therapists with patient transfers, assisting with rehab equipment during therapy sessions, ordering equipment and supplies, and performing clerical tasks as directed. FTE: 1.0, authorized for 80 hours per pay period. Schedule: Monday - Friday, shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 6:00pm. Fairview Rehabilitation offers a range of services that serve patients across 10 acute‑care hospitals, 3 post‑acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs. Responsibilities Under supervision of the therapist, assess patients’ needs and identify patients’ ability to participate in treatment each day. Implement assistance with plan of care as directed by the therapist. Communicate with the therapist recommendations/need for revision/update of plan of care as determined by physicians or nursing staff. Coordinate care and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team to achieve desired outcomes. Under the direct supervision of the therapist, provide treatment interventions based on the patients plan of care. Assist with treatment interventions, including patient transfers, patient monitoring, and exercise monitoring as directed by the therapist. Identify patient’s/family’s educational needs and communicate needs to the therapist. Assist therapist with treatment equipment for use in patient treatment. Prepare, maintain and clean department/treatment areas in compliance with appropriate policies related to infection control, safety regulations and other established guidelines. Complete cleaning per schedule. Stock supplies. Complete maintenance, temperature and safety checklist. Safely transport, transfer and escort patients. Follow proper procedure when completing/assisting with patient transfers to ensure safety of patient and self. Use appropriate and safe body mechanics. Transport assigned patients in a safe and timely manner. Demonstrate awareness of and comply with departmental standards for productivity, charges, attendance and time management/prioritization. Participate in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives. Complete scheduling functions as assigned. Produce efficient and accurate schedules and associated reports. Record and update schedule changes accurately. Communicate changes to all involved staff in a timely manner. Participate actively in department problem solving, coordination patient schedule for multiple disciplines. Seek out solution to time conflicts directly through parties involved and other available resources. Required Qualifications Completion of 2 years towards Bachelor’s Degree in health/exercise related field. Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross). Preferred Qualifications B.S./B.A. in health/exercise related field. Healthcare experience with direct patient care.
