Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist

Summary This position is located at Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park in the Facility Management Division. Major Duties The Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist provides leadership and technical expertise in managing the park's facilities, assets, and operational programs. This position serves as a key member of the park management team, guiding strategic decisions, overseeing complex maintenance and project portfolios, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of park infrastructure and staff. Below are the daily duties associated with this position. Develops a wide range of management documents, including project documentation, safety reports, compliance materials, and budget justifications. Oversees multi-year and annual budgets, spending plans, project funding, cost analyses, and facility management financial systems. Supervises subordinate staff, establishes work priorities, evaluates performance, identifies training needs, and manages workload distribution. Sets maintenance priorities, plans multi-year asset work, contract management, evaluates program performance, adjusts schedules, and oversees long-range facility strategies. Uses Facility Management Software Systems (FMSS), maintenance management tools, asset databases, and technology-supported work controls. Represents the park to partners, agencies, and the public; participates in leadership discussions; provides guidance to staff; leads teams; and coordinates with contractors. Area Information: Klondike Goldrush Park is in Skagway, Alaska, a year-round seaport and popular cruise ship destination between May and September. Tourism is the town's main economic driver, and Klondike Gold Rush NHP is Alaska's most visited national park area. Skagway has about 1000 permanent residents, with the population doubling or tripling in summer. The town provides essential services such as a school, post office, bank, library, recreation center, medical clinic, and limited shopping, plus more restaurants and retail outlets during summer. Major purchases are made by mail or trips to Juneau and Whitehorse. Skagway is accessible by road via the Klondike Highway, ferry, and light aircraft. The climate features cool winters and mild summers, with average annual precipitation of 26.5 inches. Housing costs are high, and government housing is not available. Requirements Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct Deposit participation required. You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. You are required to have a valid driver's license within 7 days from Entry-On-Duty. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. You may be required to work evenings, holidays, and overtime. You are required to wear a uniform and comply with uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to travel overnight away from home occasionally. You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. The position to which you will be appointed is subject to a financial disclosure reporting requirement and you will be required to complete a new entrant Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 450) within 30 days of your appointment. Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. Eligibility Documentation: Current NPS Federal employees must submit latest SF-50 (i.e. Promotion, Within Grade Increase (WGI)) showing tenure 1 or 2 in block 24, grade, and if applicable, an additional SF-50 showing the highest grade or promotion potential held. Time in grade will be determined by reviewing your resume and required SF-50s. If your SF-50 showing highest permanent grade held has an effective date within the past year, your resume must clearly show that you held that grade for one year. Do not submit award SF-50s.
