Company Description Founded in 1988, the Laborers' Health & Safety Fund of North America (LHSFNA) is a joint labor-management fund affiliated with the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA). The Fund supports LIUNA District Councils, Local Unions, health and welfare funds, signatory employers, and affiliates across North America. LHSFNA is dedicated to improving the safety and health of LIUNA members both on and off the job through education, resources, and advocacy. The organization works collaboratively with stakeholders to promote safer workplaces, healthier lifestyles, and stronger safety cultures in the construction and public sector industries. Role Description The Safety & Health Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Washington, DC. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting safety and health programs and initiatives for LIUNA affiliates and signatory employers. Day-to-day tasks include conducting safety and health research, creating educational materials, delivering safety training, and providing technical assistance on regulatory and best-practice issues. The Specialist will perform jobsite visits, analyze incident trends, and recommend preventive measures. The role also involves collaborating with internal staff and external partners, participating in conferences and outreach events, and helping to advance the Fund’s mission of protecting and promoting the well-being of LIUNA members on and off the job. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Occupational Health knowledge, with experience applying these principles in workplace settings. Candidates should possess Environment Health and Safety (EHS) expertise, including familiarity with relevant regulations, standards, and compliance practices. Candidates should possess Safety Training skills, including designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for diverse audiences. Candidates should possess Accident Investigation skills, including incident analysis, root cause determination, and development of corrective actions. Bachelor’s degree or higher in occupational safety and health, environmental health, public health, industrial hygiene, or a related field is preferred. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHST, or equivalents) are beneficial. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to union members, employers, and other stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, manage multiple projects, and travel as needed for training, site visits, and meetings. #J-18808-Ljbffr
