Position: AVID Tutor Work Schedule: Hours will vary but all work will occur during the regular academic day, 8:00am-3:00pm. Start Date: Fall 2026 Pay: $19.16 per hour ($11.41 per hour for current students in the district) Summary AVID is a college-readiness program that targets students who are "in the academic middle," but who have potential for higher performance. AVID tutors play an integral role in supporting the students through a rigorous curriculum by serving as role models and mentors, and by taking an active role in developing the academic and personal strength of AVID students. Tutor training in AVID will be provided. Required Qualifications: Excellent communication skills Have the ability to work with middle and high school aged students Be confident working with assignments in a variety of subject areas and at various skill levels Serve as a role model and mentor Be competent and comfortable working with diverse populations Have the ability to facilitate small student discussion groups Be prepared to work collaboratively with AVID teachers, students and other tutors Be flexible and able to take initiative Participate in on-going professional development throughout the school year Independent School District No, 622, North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale, does not discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity.
