Quality Technician

Position Overview

The Quality Technician is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the Quality team by maintaining project documentation, entering and updating engineering drawings, preparing weld maps, and ensuring quality records are accurate and organized. This is an entry-level position designed for an individual who is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in developing a career in construction quality.

The Quality Technician works closely with Quality personnel, project teams, and other departments to support accurate and timely documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Enter, update, and maintain engineering and construction drawings in accordance with project requirements
• Create, update, and maintain weld maps and associated documentation
• Maintain accurate quality records, reports, and project documentation
• Review drawings and documents for completeness, accuracy, and proper revisions
• Track drawing revisions and ensure current documents are properly maintained
• Assist Quality personnel with documentation required for inspections, testing, and project turnover
• Organize and maintain electronic and physical quality records
• Assist with compiling documentation for project turnover and final quality records
• Enter and maintain data in quality tracking systems and spreadsheets
• Coordinate with project personnel to obtain missing or updated documentation
• Help ensure documentation is completed and submitted in accordance with project and company requirements
• Follow established Quality Control procedures and document control practices
• Perform other duties and assist with quality-related activities as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous construction, engineering, fabrication, or quality-related experience is preferred but not required
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to read and understand basic engineering or construction drawings is preferred
• Ability to work independently while also supporting a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Willingness to learn quality processes, documentation requirements, and industry standards

Compensation

• The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Perform physical movements such as bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing
• Safely navigate active construction sites, including uneven, confined, or cluttered work areas
• Work at elevated heights and comply with fall protection and safety requirements
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
• Work in environments with exposure to noise, dust, temperature extremes, and other construction-related conditions
• Interpret technical drawings and visualize three-dimensional concepts when needed
• Maintain sufficient vision, hearing, coordination, and awareness to safely perform job duties
• Ability to work extended shifts, including up to 12 hours, in outdoor construction environments and varying weather conditions
• Maintain physical stamina and strength to perform demanding job duties throughout the workday
