Machinist

The Machinist is responsible for producing metal and plastic parts to print specifications and performing required machine set-ups and operations. Essential duties include but are not limited to:

• Promotes and demonstrates Wurtec's core values (dedicated, hardworking, ambitious, willing to accept responsibility, and integrity).
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and legal regulations, including Safety Data Sheets, Occupational Safety and Health Act, and Environmental Protection Act.
• Operates assigned machines including HAAS, Fanuc, and ProtoTRAK controls.
• Performs routine maintenance on assigned machines as required.
• Regularly review and follow all ISO documentation relating to the quality system.
• Work with machined parts at close tolerances.
• Inspect work pieces visually or with Calipers, Micrometers Etc.
• Ability to read prints and engineering drawings.
• Fluently read, work, and follow directions.
• Ability to machine on a variety of materials.
• Full-time/in-person attendance is an essential function of this job.

Technical skills:

• Aptitude for learning company ERP, Epicor.
• Basic computer skills, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
• Adaptability to cross train in other departments to satisfy customer needs.

Education & Experience:

• Experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a related position
• High School Diploma or GED
• Journeyman Card (preferred)

Work environment:

This role primarily operates in a warehouse environment that is not climate controlled. The noise level is described as moderate and may be exposed to vibration, oils, moving mechanical parts, or hazardous traffic conditions and requires the use of limbs to operate machinery. This role requires occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. And requires standing for long periods of time, kneeling, neck rotation, pushing, reaching, stopping/twisting, grasping/gripping, pulling, reaching overhead, and squatting. Near visual and far acuity, and the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech is required. This role is not eligible to considered for remote work.
