Warehouse & Logistics Manager

Company: Gilbert – Trade Shows | Live Events | Architectural Interiors Full-Time | On-Site | 45–50 hours/week | Weekend availability as needed About the Role: Gilbert is a design, build and fabrication company specializing in trade shows, live events and architectural interiors. Our work is custom, fast-moving and deadline-driven. Projects can involve large custom-built pieces, client-owned assets, multiple facilities, freight carriers, drivers, installation crews and constantly changing schedules. Position Overview: This is a leadership role, but it is not a desk job. You will lead the team, manage the operation and be directly involved in the details that keep projects moving—from coordinating freight and crews to confirming a driver is on the road and a critical shipment is actually going to arrive when promised. At the same time, we are looking for someone who can elevate the operation. You should naturally look for ways to improve systems, create better visibility, eliminate unnecessary administrative work and build processes that allow the team to operate proactively instead of constantly reacting. Responsibilities: Lead day-to-day warehouse and logistics operations across two facilities (east coast and west coast, with quarterly travel to west coast operations). Manage shipping, receiving, freight, deliveries, pickups and transportation scheduling throughout the U.S. Coordinate drivers, carriers, vendors and other logistics partners. Personally monitor critical shipments and delivery schedules. Oversee packaging, crating, loading and safe transportation of large, custom-built and high-value items. Coordinate logistics for trade shows, live events, field activations and permanent installations. Plan labor, equipment, space and transportation around constantly changing project demands. Partner closely with Project Management, Production and Account Management to keep projects on schedule. Lead, coach and hold the warehouse/logistics team accountable for execution, and accuracy. Evaluate current processes and build better systems, workflows and SOPs that improve efficiency and reduce administrative burden. Introduce tools and technology that provide better visibility into inventory, assets, shipments and schedules. Develop and maintain strong relationships with freight and logistics vendors and negotiate rates and services. Jump in and solve problems when the unexpected happens and learn to anticipate needs to business. What We're Looking For 10+ years of experience in warehouse, logistics, transportation or a related field; 5+ years leading teams. Proven experience managing time-sensitive, complex logistics in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of freight, transportation, shipping/receiving, inventory and large-item handling. A proven ability to lead a team while remaining close to the day-to-day operation. Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate problems and act before they become emergencies. Someone who is equally comfortable managing the big picture and checking the details. Experience improving processes, implementing systems and making operations more efficient. Strong communication and vendor-management skills. Comfortable working flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends during peak project periods.
