Senior Data Engineer

Role Description

Inca Digital is seeking a candidate with expertise in blockchain data and NLP/LLM to design, build, and operate end-to-end batch and incremental ETL/ELT pipelines. Responsibilities include:

• Designing, building, and operating ETL/ELT pipelines to turn raw data into production-grade APIs, dashboards, and automated alerts.
• High-throughput data acquisition from diverse sources, including relational databases, third-party APIs, flat files, blockchain nodes, and social/web text.
• Processing unstructured text using NLP and LLM techniques for entity extraction, classification, deduplication, and enrichment.
• Modeling and querying data across relational, object, and graph stores, selecting the appropriate model for access patterns.
• Ensuring provenance and reproducibility of data, with versioned datasets and reproducible findings.
• Delivering data quality through validation, lineage, reconciliation, and freshness monitoring.
• Collaborating with the Head of R&D, engineers, data scientists, and investigations team to translate intelligence requirements into scalable products.
• Contributing to technical design and architecture through a written, argued design process.

Qualifications

• Advanced Python and SQL skills.
• Proven experience with production ETL/ELT pipelines under an orchestrator (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/RDS and object storage (S3).
• Experience in building and versioning APIs and/or feeding dashboards.
• Familiarity with Docker, Git, CI/CD, and IaC tools.

Requirements

• Experience with streaming and near-real-time architectures (e.g., Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS).
• Knowledge of document stores (e.g., MongoDB) and analytical engines or warehouses.
• Experience with graph data modeling and querying (e.g., Neo4j/Cypher).
• Familiarity with transformation and data-quality tooling.
• Knowledge of vector stores and programming languages (e.g., Go, Kubernetes).
• Experience with blockchain ledger data, smart contracts, or web3 languages.
• Understanding of financial services, trading venues, or regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with OSINT, dark web, or social platform data collection.
