Program Coordinator (Education and Workforce TEP)

Organization Overview: The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.Position Summary: We are seeking two dedicated and organized Program Coordinators to oversee and manage our Teen Program. The Program Coordinators will be responsible for the successful implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the program. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for working with teenagers.Under the supervision of the Summer Teen Program Manager, the Program Culture Coordinators will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:Schedule: 25 hours per week (seasonal)Hourly Rate: $25.00/hrRoles, Responsibilities, and Essential DutiesDemonstrated ability to plan, conduct and supervise personnel, recreational programs and servicesStrong understanding of positive youth culture and youth development.Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages 13-19 as well as a range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional mannerMust be highly motivated and dedicated to the organizational missionStrong written and verbal communication skills are essentialBe available to work weekends and on call on day(s) not on site.Support the program manager with planning and developing program activities to ensure that activities and events are made available for all participantsSupport the creation of a program calendar outlining dates, times, and locations of various program activities.Coordinate with staff, volunteers, and facilities to schedule and secure necessary resources for program implementation.Ensure facilities and maintained to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriate environment for recreation activitiesAssist with planning and developing recreation programs to ensure that activities and events are made available for all membersImplement recreation programs to ensure that members have access to sport, recreation, and leisure activitiesPromote recreational programs to ensure that members are aware of available opportunities and activitiesEnsure recreation facilities and maintained to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriate environment for recreation activitiesCollaborate with summer staff in the planning, development and execution of quality, project-based youth development activities & workshopsDevelop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families & school facultySupport the TEP Program Manager with coordinating events & functions in specialty area such as: showcases, exhibits, productions, culminating events, etcEstablish effective communication channels with program participants, their families, and relevant stakeholders.Serve as a role model to youth, always maintaining professionalism and preparedness.Utilize positive youth development strategies to resolve behavioral challenges and celebrate youth achievement.Collect feedback from participants, volunteers, and staff to identify areas of improvement and make necessary adjustments.Prepare regular reports on program activities, participant engagement, and program outcomes.Participate pre-program and ongoing professional development opportunities and daily staff meetings in addition to formal feedback and coachingImplement all health and safety protocols as required.Qualifications:High School Diploma/HSE/GED, associates degree is preferredWillingness to learn & continue learning and developing through this roleDemonstrated sensitivity & respect of teenagers and young adults, and your communityStrong communication skillsComfortable using technology ie.
