Lead Cybersecurity Consultant

Salary: $80,000 - 95,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a comparable STEM discipline; equivalent experience may also be considered.
• We expect at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in cybersecurity, RMF, system security engineering, information assurance, or a related area.
• We require the ability to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
• Professional cybersecurity certifications are preferred, such as CASP+, CySA+, Security+, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, or CGRC.
• We look for hands-on familiarity with the NIST Risk Management Framework, NIST SP 800-53, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
• We prefer experience implementing security controls, documenting compliance, and supporting authorization activities.
• We value experience with vulnerability assessment, scanning, configuration changes, software and hardware updates, and secure configuration management.
• Familiarity with tools such as Nessus, ACAS, eMASS, and similar cybersecurity platforms is preferred.
• A solid understanding of network security principles, operating systems, and secure architecture concepts is important.
• We seek strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is required.
• The ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a team-oriented client environment is necessary.
• Experience with PowerShell or Python is preferred.
• Navy, NAVSEA, MSC, RMF, or broader federal/DoD experience is preferred.
• The ability to quickly build working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required for roles supporting government contracts.

• We execute cybersecurity project tasks across multiple client engagements to keep deliverables on track, within scope, and within budget.
• We support project managers with planning, status updates, issue tracking, and delivery of assigned workstreams.
• We review project plans, schedules, and work authorizations to understand scope and responsibilities.
• We join client and internal meetings and provide technical updates on our assigned work.
• We conduct research, technical evaluation, and data collection to support project goals.
• We prepare reports, technical documentation, briefings, and presentations.
• We track and report time spent on project execution.
• We support quality assurance reviews of project deliverables.
• We contribute to RMF implementation and sustainment, A&A package development and upkeep, security control assessments, vulnerability scanning and remediation tracking, compliance reviews and audit support, and system hardening, patching, and configuration reviews.
• We capture and refine cybersecurity operational and security requirements and help ensure the appropriate controls are implemented.
• We prepare and maintain artifacts such as SSPs, SAR inputs, POA&Ms, policies, procedures, inventories, and risk records.
• We review system configurations and technical documentation for alignment with relevant requirements and standards.
• We analyze vulnerability data, scan results, remediation status, and compliance findings.
• We coordinate with project managers and technical colleagues to resolve issues, close action items, and meet deadlines.
• We serve as a technical lead for defined workstreams and guide less senior team members when needed.
• We contribute to proposals, technical responses, and internal capability-building efforts.
• We build effective working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
• We travel regularly to client sites and project locations as part of the role.
