About the Program To meet the demands of 21st Century health challenges, the NAM Leadership Consortium (LC) brings together leaders from major public and private organizations across all sectors of the nation's health system—clinicians, patients, health care institutions, public health, technology and data leaders, scientists, manufacturers, payers, employers, and regulators. Working through the National Academies' Congressionally chartered mandate to provide independent, trusted, and science‑based counsel, the LC is uniquely positioned to align these sectors in advancing a continuously learning and improving health system. At a time of profound fragmentation, it stands as the only national entity explicitly dedicated to coordinating action across organizations to achieve transformative system effectiveness, affordability, and fairness. The Consortium's strength lies in the shared commitment of its members to collective progress—recognizing that advances in science, informatics, incentives, and culture are interdependent and must be pursued together. At its core, the LC is grounded in building and sustaining trust—by ensuring that the system's design, priorities, and performance are centered on the needs, preferences, and goals of the people it serves. The members of the LC work cooperatively through leadership networks and four Action Collaboratives operating within the four Learning Health System (LHS) domains (science, informatics, incentives, culture): the Evidence & Data Action Collaborative (science); Digital Health & AI Action Collaborative (informatics); Value Incentives & Systems Action Collaborative (incentives); and the Trust & Engagement Action Collaborative (culture). The LHS Strategy Group, comprised of leaders of various aspects of LHS advancement, provides guidance to LHS infrastructure and communication strategies of the LC. About the Position The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) seeks a highly qualified and motivated individual with unique skills, forward‑thinking insights, and proactive initiative to provide intellectual and programmatic guidance for the strategically important activities of the NAM Leadership Consortium (LC). As the staff lead for the NAM LHS Strategy Group and related Consortium Member programming, this person works in partnership with all LC staff to ensure that the vision of the LHS and its Shared Commitments are infused throughout the activities of the NAM and the LC. This individual will play a pivotal role in the mission of the LC, the NAM LHS, and the NAM. Projects currently underway include: spread and scale of the Shared Commitments throughout the activities of all health stakeholder organizations; supporting and guiding the activities of the LHS Strategy Group Working Groups on Communication, Infrastructure, and the Business Case; and fostering the engagement of LC Members with all organizations committed to leading and supporting advancement of the LHS and Shared Commitments. The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated commitment to leading health science and policy progress for the public good; strong instincts for the key health policy principles and possibilities; ease in engaging the resolution of complex problems and issues; excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, with strong capacity to lead and interact with all stakeholder levels; ability to raise funds and to operate with substantial latitude for judgement and action; and solid insights on non‑partisan health policy strategies. Most strong candidates for this position will have a substantial experience and comfort level in topic areas relevant to the primary operative domains for LHS advancement: data science, emerging artificial intelligence tools (e.g., AI algorithm development, GPT‑5), health financing, individual and community trust and engagement. Essential Job Duties

1. Project Development, Management & Administration: Assists in the development of program strategy. Ensures the program meets objectives. Leads working group calls and conducts workshops, forums, and other meetings including overseeing meeting logistics, developing agendas, inviting participants. Motivates and manages a diverse group of staff and external consultants. May lead studies, research programs, grant programs, fellowships, etc.
2. Advanced Research and Writing Activities: Prepares background papers and technical summaries. Responsible for synthesizing and editing research findings and technical data. Facilitates and coordinates responses to review for the project/program publications. Manages the development of any additional written products connected to meetings. Conducts background research on topics for new studies, programs, or activities. Assists the Director in the writing of prospectuses and proposals for new and continued funding.
3. Communication and Dissemination: Creates and maintains materials, websites, and social media channels. Works with the communications team to plan communication‑related activities for the project. Collaborates with the Director and manages the dissemination activities of the project. Represents the unit and committee within and outside the National Academies.
4. Publications: Prepares draft reports which include writing sections of report based on committee input. Edits and reviews the report for format, consistency, and grammar. Manages the response to review, responds to comments and concerns of editors, and prepares the final manuscript for publication.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements Master's degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge. Minimum Experience Three years of related professional experience. Demonstrated basic proficiency in conveying scientific/technical/policy information in verbal and written form. Physical Capabilities Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time. Ability to travel. Required Licenses, Certification or Registration None. Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls Reports to the Director of Leadership Consortium. General direction is provided. Supervises project/junior program staff with minimal oversight. Work Environment Hybrid Office/Telecommute environment, expected onsite percentage 60%, with occasional travel between National Academies' facilities and to off‑site meeting/sponsor locations. Compensation & Benefits An estimated compensation range for this position is $88,450 - $110,560. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will be based on the candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and work experience, commensurate with compensation of current employees in comparable positions with similar knowledge, skills, and work experience, and subject to budget parameters. Note it is not typical for a candidate to be hired at the higher end of the range. This is a benefits‑eligible position.
