Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical / Surgical (Stroke Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite | Floating Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 64-bed Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit serving adult patients
• Manage and monitor patients with diagnoses including stroke, altered mental status, renal/dialysis needs, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and general medical/surgical conditions
• Operate specialty equipment including IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes
• Implement and maintain isolation precautions as required by patient condition
• Float to other units as needed based on staffing and census demands

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• NIHSS certification (must be obtained prior to start date)
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients requiring dialysis or managing renal-related diagnoses
• Familiarity with pulmonary conditions including COPD and pneumonia management
• Experience with block scheduling environments and high-acuity stepdown units
