The Opportunity Desert Publications Inc., publisher of Palm Springs Life and other media serving the Coachella Valley and Southern California, is seeking an accomplished Senior Sales Executive to grow advertising and sponsorship revenue across print, digital, social media, events, and custom marketing opportunities. This is a new-business-focused, consultative sales role. The Senior Sales Executive will inherit a small portfolio of existing accounts but will be expected to generate the majority of their growth through proactive new business development while retaining and expanding the accounts assigned to them and those they develop. The successful candidate will understand how to uncover a client’s marketing objectives, build thoughtful cross-platform solutions, communicate value clearly, and move opportunities from prospecting through close and renewal. We are looking for a proactive seller who consistently creates their own pipeline, opens new doors, and develops new advertisers and sponsors while becoming a trusted long-term partner to every account they manage. What You’ll Do Proactively identify, prospect, develop, and close new advertising, sponsorship, and integrated marketing business throughout Greater Palm Springs, the Coachella Valley, and appropriate Southern California markets. Build and maintain an active sales pipeline through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, community involvement, and other business-development activities. Manage a small portfolio of assigned advertisers, with responsibility for retention, renewals, relationship development, and revenue growth. Take ownership of newly developed accounts and continually identify opportunities to expand those relationships through additional products, platforms, campaigns, and sponsorships. Sell solutions across Palm Springs Life’s portfolio, including print, digital, social media, event sponsorships, and other custom or integrated programs. Meet with business owners, marketing leaders, agencies, and other decision-makers to understand goals, audiences, budgets, timing, and measures of success. Develop persuasive proposals and presentations that connect client objectives with the appropriate media and sponsorship opportunities. Maintain disciplined CRM practices by documenting prospecting activity, opportunities, next steps, forecasts, and account information accurately and consistently. Negotiate and close business while protecting pricing integrity, profitability, and long-term client relationships. Consistently achieve individual revenue goals for both new and existing business and contribute to broader company sales objectives. What We’re Looking For Prior successful media, advertising, sponsorship, agency, or comparable consultative B2B sales experience; experience selling multiple marketing channels is strongly preferred. Demonstrated success prospecting for and closing new business, with the initiative and discipline to build a book of business rather than relying primarily on inherited accounts or inbound leads. Proven relationship-building skills with the confidence to engage business owners, senior marketing executives, and agency professionals. Strong presentation, proposal-writing, negotiation, and closing skills. Commercial judgment and the ability to translate a client’s business objectives into relevant marketing solutions. Self-directed and accountable, with strong follow-through, organization, attention to detail, and deadline management. Comfort using CRM systems to manage accounts, opportunities, activity, and forecasts. Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of client service. Knowledge of the Greater Palm Springs/Coachella Valley business community is a plus. How Success Is Measured New business revenue and consistent creation of qualified sales opportunities. Growth of a meaningful book of business through proactive prospecting and account development, rather than reliance primarily on inherited accounts. Retention, renewal, and year-over-year growth of assigned and self-developed accounts. Achievement of individual sales goals and contribution to team revenue objectives. Consistent prospecting, accurate CRM management, and reliable sales forecasting. Quality of client relationships, responsiveness, and ability to develop repeat and multi-platform business. Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $60,000–$65,000 per year, plus commission and participation in the company sales-goal bonus program. For a high-performing salesperson, total annual compensation can exceed $100,000 based on commissions and bonuses.
