Billing Specialist

Full Time Position/40 hours per week

Shift Hours M-F, 8AM – 4:30PM

Scheurer Health, a Critical Access rural hospital, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our team in Pigeon, MI. The ideal candidate will have experience as a medical billing clerk and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies
Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
Follow up on unpaid claims and denials
Resolve billing discrepancies and errors
Communicate with patients and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries
Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records
Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
Strong knowledge of medical billing codes and terminology
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Office and billing software
