POSITION PURPOSE

The inventory lead is responsible for the leadership and deployment of each member of the inventory control team. Position will lead and support the inventory control team in achieving all departmental goals set. Ensure that all inventory is reflected accurately in SAP - both levels and how it moves through the system. Perform all Accounting and SOX required monthly inventory management tasks and lead the bi-annual physical inventory event. Initiate and lead cross-functional projects to support in-stock conditions and minimal inventory levels.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Accountable for department performance
• Manage and continuously improve the Inventory Team, resulting in cost outs and process improvements
• Meet regularly with direct reports, provide SMART objectives, development opportunities, and timely feedback
• Perform quarterly and annual reviews for team members; provide any disciplinary documentation and action
• Document process and procedures to drive sustainability
• Think globally; reach out to BAC counterparts to share best practices and maintain alignment
• Maintain accurate inventory levels in SAP
• Resolve SAP inventory and material movement errors at the root cause level
• Oversee and analyze all cycle counts: monthly, weekly, etc.
• Develop, modify, and maintain departmental metrics using a variety of reporting and analysis tools.
• Ensure all required Monthly inventory tasks are performed: negative review, WIP analysis, Lean Line cycles, consignment balancing, etc.
• Manage part inventory and replenish method set up
• Primary owner of all inventory adjustments
• Support the Accounting Department and Receiving to resolve any issues that may arise
• Manage any necessary flexing; ensure team is as well utilized as possible
• Lead the successful preparation and execution of physical inventory
• Cross-functional project management to support in-stock conditions and minimal inventory levels
• Provide support to the rest of the Milford Supply Chain team, as needed

 

NATURE & SCOPE

This position will report to the Materials Supervisor. The position will be overseeing all other Inventory Team Members.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Ability to lead, coach and develop others.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in inventory management, cycle counting, accounting
• Experience with SAP Manufacturing or similar ERP system
• Able to interpret how each type of inventory functions in SAP
• Able to correctly interpret transaction history in SAP
• Knowledgeable of Lean Principles and 5S
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including charting, graphing, and analysis functions in Excel. Ability to record and report data in a meaningful way to all levels of the organization
• Decisive with strong analytical and technical skills, and able to constructively solve problems with creativity and latitude.
• Ability to develop and manage metrics that drive performance
• Able to achieve results while working in an ambiguous environment
• Able to understand and modify part set up to get desired result
• Able to troubleshoot inventory and/or accounting discrepancies
• Able to correctly interpret the Production Schedule
• Knowledgeable of inventory locations
• Knowledgeable of the full scope of the cycle count process
• Works well independently as well as with others.
