General Dentist

The General Dentist provides direct patient care to children and adults. The general dentist is responsible for repairing and removing teeth, diagnosing conditions and communicating with patients about how to best care for their teeth and gums. Duties include:Fixing or removing damaged teethFilling cavitiesPerforming exams and evaluating x-rays to determine a patient’s healthDeveloping treatment plans to deal with any dental health issuesAdministering or prescribing medications to decrease pain and improve patient healthInteracting with patients and instruct them on proper oral careMeasuring and fitting dental appliancesReferring patients to a specialist if neededTreat school-age children (K-4th grade)Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from an accredited dental programLicensure: Current license to practice dentistry in the State of Texas and a current DEA.
