Role Description
Apex Systems is seeking a results-driven AI Engineer with expertise in agentic AI solutions to join our team on a fully remote, W2 contract basis. Collaborate with leading-edge teams to design, build, and deploy AI-driven systems that transform enterprise operations. This is a high-impact opportunity to work with the latest cloud and AI technologies, with strong potential for contract extension and career advancement.
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade AI software solutions tailored to operational workflows
- Build and orchestrate advanced AI agents using prompt engineering, RAG, function calling, and evaluation frameworks
- Package and deploy AI services leveraging GCP, Vertex AI, Cloud Run, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Implement and optimize data pipelines and models in close partnership with data engineering teams
- Develop robust APIs and integrations using Python, SQL, Flask, or FastAPI
- Ensure security, scalability, and continuous integration through DevOps best practices
- Collaborate with business, infrastructure, and security stakeholders to define requirements and deliver seamless AI integrations
- Communicate project progress, risks, and technical needs to leadership
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance
- Stay current with AI trends and contribute to the evolution of internal platforms
Qualifications
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience as an AI Engineer or in related AI/ML software roles
- Proven expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Vertex AI, Cloud Run, and Cloud Storage
- Advanced proficiency in Python for AI product development
- Strong track record building and deploying AI agents and LLM-driven solutions
- Deep understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, version control, and secure coding practices
- Skilled in designing APIs, system integrations, and data pipelines for scalable AI applications
- Experience monitoring, optimizing, and troubleshooting AI production systems
Preferred Skills
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related technical field
- Experience with model fine-tuning, custom algorithms, or advanced AI techniques
- Familiarity with enterprise operational systems and modern cloud data platforms
- Hands-on exposure to managed AI platforms and tooling
