Here is a summary of the required or preferred qualifications and experiences for this nursing position: - Certifications required: BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and Fetal Heart Monitoring. - Experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D), Mother Baby, Newborn Nursery, and Couplet Care is needed. - The RN will have responsibilities within their scope for laboring patients, triages, and mother-baby care. - The nurse should be prepared to handle 15-17 births per month. - The role may require floating to Med/Surg if there are no patients in the primary units, with duties including assisting with vitals and passing meds. - There may be interaction and collaboration with LPNs, but the RN will perform initial assessments and validate LPN-assisted baby assessments. - Support is available from the Transfer Coordinator (house supervisor) if needed. - The facility allows for one shift cancellation every other week.
