Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (0700–1930) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Medical Surgical unit with a day shift ratio of 1:4–5, caring for patients including total joint replacement, spinal surgery, urology, abdominal surgery, bariatrics, and medical overflow
• Manage post-operative care including early ambulation, hemovac and JP drain management, colostomy care, and wound assessment
• Administer and monitor set-rate and occasional drips including heparin, PCA pumps, and TPN
• Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs, and respiratory therapy to deliver coordinated patient care; RT handles respiratory treatments
• Float as needed to medical and telemetry units, assisting with medical patients in those areas
• Conduct bedside shift report as a standard unit expectation

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Ability to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• All requested time off (7 days or fewer per 13-week contract) must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Surgical or post-operative nursing experience strongly preferred
• Experience with early ambulation protocols
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
