Medical Surgical Unit Overview
Join our 30-bed Medical Surgical Unit , where teamwork, patient-centered care, and professional support are part of our culture.
Patient Population
Registered Nurses on this unit provide care for patients with:
- Medical-Surgical conditions
- Gastrointestinal (GI) disorders
- Oncology diagnoses
- Post-operative recovery needs
- COPD and respiratory illnesses
- Pneumonia
- Urinary tract infections (UTI)
- Dehydration
- Complex wound care
Nursing Support
- RN-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:6
- Dedicated Patient Care Associates on every shift
- Collaborative interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Supportive nurse leadership and clinical education resources
Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based patient care
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and healthcare professionals
- Administer medications and treatments
- Monitor patient progress and provide education to patients and families
- Maintain accurate electronic medical record documentation
- Promote patient safety and quality outcomes
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Compact State Nursing License or Missouri RN License, as applicable
- Compliance with state board of nursing requirements
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Additional unit-specific certifications as required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and twist while providing patient care
