Job Summary – About the RoleAssist with enhancing the physical appearance and experience of the Park District for residents and visitors to our parks and facilities.Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceThis position is well suited for someone with a pleasant personality. Must be reliable and show initiative, tact, and productivity.Required: High school graduate. Must be 18 years old. Must be able to learn the proper use of hand tools, grounds equipment and operation of trucks, tractors utility carts and riding mowers. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays during games and events. A valid driver’s license is required. Must have or obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification and Mandated Reporter certification within 30 days of hire.Essential Functions of the PositionPark District CornerstonesFollow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District’s safety and risk management program.Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.Comply with park district policies and administrative procedures.ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Parks and Planning, the Assistant Superintendents of Parks and the ESSC Turf Coordinator, the Seasonal Parks General Maintenance Associate – ESSC are responsible for promoting a safe environment in all parks and facilities. The Seasonal Parks General Maintenance Associate - ESSC shall complete their assigned duties to the best of their abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:Perform maintenance and prepare ballfields for scheduled league practices or games.Daily opening and cleaning of park grounds and facilities including janitorial cleaning of restrooms, litter and garbage removal, cleaning of skate parks, dog parks, sports courts, sidewalks and parking lots.Assist with athletic field preparation/repair.Assist in layout and marking out athletic fields for scheduled league painting.Perform weekly re-painting of game fields during league seasons.Willingly work over and above required daily hours when necessary.Be able to respond and assist with medical incidents.Ensure safety in the parks and enforce all the Park Districts Ordinances, Rules and Policies.Maintain a good relationship with all the Districts User Groups.Basic machine maintenance dutiesLock up the facility nightly.Patrol the facility.Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.Marginal Functions of the PositionAssist with special events in other Park District facilities.Perform other related duties as assigned.Physical and Environmental RequirementsPosition or ActivityFrequently46-100% of the timeOccasionally16-45% of the timeRarely0-15% of the timeSittingXWalkingXClimbingXBalancingXStooping/KneelingXCrouchingXCrawlingXReachingXHandling/FeelingXStandingXStrength1-40lbs & 41-50lbs at times with assistanceRequires a range of hearing and vision that allows the employee to safely complete the essential duties of the position with or without assistive devices, corrective lenses and/or glasses and/or a reasonable accommodation.EEO Statement and AccommodationsThe St Charles Park District is an equal opportunity employer under all state and federal laws and regulations.
