Placement Executive, Commercial Risk - IAS, West

The Baldwin Group, a leading insurance brokerage firm, is seeking a Placement Executive to partner with Advisors and Directors in delivering high‑level service to our clients. The role focuses on building strong relationships with insurers, designing and negotiating tailored coverage, and maintaining a robust pipeline of business. Responsibilities Develop professional working relationships with clients, insurance companies, and agency personnel. Maintain in‑depth knowledge of insurance products, policy forms, terms, and conditions. Research and evaluate qualified underwriters in the marketplace. Assess client needs, design solutions, and negotiate with carriers to secure the most appropriate coverage plans. Market client business, typically of higher complexity, to a variety of carriers for new and renewal business. Identify suitable carriers, submit applications for quotes, negotiate favorable rates, and prepare insurance proposals. Stay current on industry news, products, coverage, and technology. Attend company meetings, educational workshops, carrier functions, staff meetings, and networking events when requested. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to prepare written correspondence, reports, and analyses promptly. Strong analytical skills to identify problems, recommend solutions, and evaluate outcomes. Excellent presentation and negotiation skills. Exceptional writing and communication skills. Capacity to multi‑task, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment. Education & Experience Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or 10 years of work‑related experience. Prefer some experience in an agency environment. Licensing & Designations Active state insurance license required. Professional designations such as ARM, CPCU, CRM, or CIC are a plus. Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Maintain all required licenses in the states where the firm operates, or obtain them within the first 90 days of employment. Compensation Starting pay: $150,000–$160,000 annually. Salary is negotiable upon hire.
