Senior Accountant Regular Full-time US_NY_NEPSI, Queensbury, NY, US Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $80,000.00 Annually Title: Senior Accountant Reports to : Accounting Manager Department : CGS Cost Accounting Summary –This position will support key accounting functions with a focus on ASC 606 revenue recognition, SEC reporting, and complex reconciliation. This role will play a critical part in preparing accurate financial statements and ensuring compliance with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and internal controls. Job Responsibilities – Activities: Functions: Take ownership of core accounting processes Provide guidance to junior team members, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive process improvements and ensure timely, accurate reporting Prepare and review complex monthly journal entries, including those related to deferred revenue, leases, and other technical areas Perform and oversee account reconciliation and analysis for key balance sheet accounts such as accounts receivable, restricted cash, deferred revenue, inventory, and lease accounting Review and assess customer invoicing for proper sales tax application and manage the related accounting for accrued sales tax Review and reconcile inventory accounts, conduct audits when necessary, and review/update components costs Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns in a timely and accurate manner Collaborate with the AR team to support collections, aging analysis, and customer communications Work with plant controller on cash flow forecasting Maintain and reconcile general ledger subsidiary records, including accounts receivable ledgers and external lease software systems Prepare detailed audit schedules for both quarterly reviews and annual audits Respond to auditor inquiries as needed. Support the company’s SOX compliance by preparing schedules and ensuring proper documentation of key controls Serve as a resource and mentor to junior accounting staff; assist in training and reviewing their work when appropriate Participate in process improvement initiatives and take the lead on ad hoc projects and analyses to support the finance team’s goals Other tasks as required Education - Experience: Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 3-5 years relevant accounting experience Strong understanding of GAAP, ASC 606, and ASC 842 Preferred: CPA or CPA track 3+years relevant accounting experience in a public company or public accounting environment Strong understanding of GAAP, ASC 606, and ASC 842 Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley internal control frameworks Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.) required Experience with Oracle ERP or similar systems strongly preferred Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to manage multiple deadlines Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to collaborate across departments Detail-oriented Proactive mindset Strong sense of ownership Any other training requirements/comments #J-18808-Ljbffr
