Principal at Ranson Elementary, 235 days Jefferson County Schools is seeking a Principal for Ranson Elementary School. The successful applicant will oversee all educational programs and school activities for K‑5, Pre‑K, and special education. Candidates must hold or be able to obtain a West Virginia State administrative certification and hold a Master’s Degree in education. A minimum of three years of school administrative experience is preferred. Key Responsibilities Assume full administration of the school Distribute and inventory textbooks and instructional supplies Supervise, evaluate, and provide professional development to faculty and staff (including extracurricular assignments) Prepare federal, state, and county reports Develop and maintain the master schedule Coordinate ancillary services necessary for school operation (budgeting, transportation, child nutrition, custodial services, pupil services, health and social services, federal programs, special education, common planning, curriculum best practices, school improvement, technology integration, and ADA compliance including 504 plans) Assist staff with student relations, discipline, attendance, supervision, instruction, and the Local School Improvement Council Implement and enforce regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to student conduct Oversee athletics, including scheduling, equipment, and budgeting Arrange substitute teachers, orient them, and evaluate performance Promote a positive school environment and facilitate faculty senate participation Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent or immediate supervisor Qualifications Valid teaching certificate for required specializations and grade levels Criminal background check completed as required Master’s Degree in education Valid West Virginia administrative certificate at the appropriate programmatic level (or eligibility) Completion of the WV Evaluation Leadership Institute Minimum of three years of school administrative experience (preferred) Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the appropriate programmatic level Knowledge of school curriculum, as well as county, state, and federal policies Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to integrate computers and technology into educational leadership Demonstrated ability to implement innovative programs appropriate for the programmatic level Ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of an educational team Self‑control and a commitment to ongoing professional growth and constructive feedback Compensation and Terms Salary will be determined in accordance with the West Virginia State administrative salary schedule and commensurate with experience and education level.
