What You'll Do:

• Provide direct patient care to adult medical surgical and telemetry patients, including care for sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, PNA, and post-op overflow cases (e.g., total joints, GI surgeries).
• Monitor and interpret EKGs; pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival.
• Manage wounds, JP drains, wound vacs, hemodialysis catheters, fistulas, PCA, and pain management.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, support staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Float to other Med/Surg units as needed, with orientation provided (2-4 days hospital orientation plus 2 days on-unit).
• Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and documentation procedures using Meditech Expanse EMR system.
• Work every other weekend, with mandatory 4-day/3-day week schedules, and work 2-3 holidays during the contract.
• Maintain professional appearance: pewter scrub color, gray/white/black T-shirts, gray/black jackets, and visible badges.

What You Need:

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Louisiana or proper compact license for travel
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years' recent RN experience in acute care setting; first-time travelers accepted if they meet experience criteria
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam
• Strong wound management skills, familiarity with IV therapies, pain management, and patient monitoring
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
