What You'll Do

• Provide direct patient care to adult patients in the PCU/Stepdown unit, managing a patient ratio of 1:3.
• Administer medications, including titratable IV infusions like Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, and Levophed (manager approval required for titratables).
• Monitor cardiac telemetry, review patient strips, and respond to alarms promptly.
• Support patient management for conditions such as CVA/TIA, spinal surgeries, AFIB/RVR, DKA, COPD, and post-heart caths.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including physicians, RT, OT, PT, and other staff.
• Document patient care accurately and promptly using Meditech Expanse EMR system.
• Support unit functions including phlebotomy, IV team, and patient rounding as needed.
• Participate in hospital orientation and unit-specific training, including a 2-shift orientation to ensure competency.
• Maintain compliance with hospital protocols and safety standards.

What You Need

• Valid RN license in Louisiana (or multi-state license permissible).
• Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience in a similar setting.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam.
• Skills in managing IV titrations, chest tubes, traches, peritoneal dialysis, and lumbar drains preferred.
• Strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
• Must be able to work the scheduled 12-hour night shifts and participate in rotating weekends and holidays as required.
