Director - Human Resources Business Partner

Los Angeles (hybrid - 3 days in office required) About the Role This is the most senior People role at Annapurna, reporting to the COO and serving as the primary partner to our senior leadership team, including the CCO, COO, and CBO. You’ll own the People function end to end - from talent acquisition through development, retention, and transitions - working closely with leaders across Games, Film, and Television to design and build strong teams, develop high-performing talent, and ensure the organization is set up to deliver on its strategy. This role is both strategic and hands-on. You’ll help leaders think through how to structure their teams, plan for future talent needs, and build the leadership depth the business requires, while also driving day-to-day execution across the employee lifecycle. You’ll play a central role in shaping the employee experience and ensuring our people practices support a high-performing, creative environment. What You’ll Do Strategic Partnership Serve as the primary People partner to Annapurna’s senior leadership, including the CCO, COO, and CBO Build strong, trusted relationships with leaders and teams across Games, Film, and Television to support the delivery of their vision and business strategy Translate business priorities into clear, practical people plans that drive performance and growth Advise leaders on team structure, talent decisions, and organizational effectiveness to support both immediate needs and long-term success Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on hiring, performance, team effectiveness, and employee engagement Develop a deep understanding of the business and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen teams and improve outcomes Talent Acquisition Own recruitment end to end: partner with hiring managers to define roles, plan recruiting strategies, source and assess candidates, and manage offers Forecast staffing needs and prospective openings, and plan hiring ahead of demand in partnership with Finance Deliver a strong candidate experience and a thoughtful onboarding that sets new hires up to succeed Talent & Organization Partner with leaders to build strong teams by assessing, developing, and retaining talent Lead key processes such as performance reviews, compensation planning, and talent assessments Own compensation benchmarking and market data, including the annual Croner survey cycle, and provide clear guidance on compensation decisions in line with company philosophy Advise and partner with leaders on organizational changes, offering thoughtful insight on team design and guiding effective transition planning Ensure people programs are implemented effectively and tailored to the needs of each part of the business Culture & Employee Experience Champion a connected, engaged, and high-performing workplace across a creative organization Build strong relationships across the company to understand employee sentiment and identify opportunities to improve engagement and morale Gather employee feedback and translate insights into meaningful actions that improve the employee experience Employee Relations & Compliance Provide practical, sound guidance on employee relations matters, including investigating and resolving issues with discretion and good judgment Support leaders in managing conflict and addressing concerns in a timely, constructive way Guide leaders through complex situations while maintaining a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment Ensure consistent adherence to company policies and applicable employment laws across every jurisdiction in which we operate; own policies and the employee handbook Advise on employment-related regulations and mitigate risk through sound, compliant practices What You’ll Bring 7 years of experience in an HR/People Business Partner role, with experience partnering directly with senior executives Experience in games, entertainment, media, or another creative, fast-paced environment Strong business judgment and the ability to connect people strategy to business outcomes Proven ability to coach and influence leaders at all levels Experience with organizational design, talent planning, and leadership development Full-cycle recruitment experience, from role definition through offer and onboarding Sound employee relations judgment, with experience handling sensitive matters with discretion A hands-on approach — comfortable moving between strategy and execution, and being the primary HR voice in the room Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly Working knowledge of California employment law strongly preferred Bachelor’s degree required; HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr Annapurna
