This individual will need to be collaborative in working with a broad range of service providers, students and staff. - Master's degree in Social Work perferred. Must hold valid Michigan certification for Social Work
- Must hold a Full School MDE Certification.
- Experience with school-aged individuals, experience with social and/or school counseling
- Evidence of working collaboratively and has established and maintained trusting, effective relationships with staff, students and families.
- Strong oral and written communication skills Highly organized and effective with supporting students in varied platforms
- Identify those in need of additional support
- Experience using PBIS a framework
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with students, staff and families
- Advocate for and develop plans to improve student's wellbeing
- Respond to students in crisis situations
- Interview and counsel students and their families individually or in groups, assessing their situations, capabilities and needs as they pertain to the educational development of the students
- Engage families in examining how the school and home can effectively work together to improve the overall educational success of the student
- Utilize assessments to further support students social-emotional well-being
- Maintain confidentiality of student, staff and family information
- Provide support to students and families relative to students' educational progress, community advocacy and referrals
- Participate in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and to engage methodology where necessary
- Participate and provide input in building and department meetings
