Location: West Harrison, NY (Onsite)

Pay Rate: Up to $21/hour

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (720 hours / approximately 4-5 months)

About the Opportunity

Amalgamated Life Insurance is seeking a Contact Center Representative to join its growing customer service team in West Harrison, NY. This role supports participants and customers with inquiries related to benefits, disability, paid family leave, and other insurance-related programs.

This is a fast-paced, high-volume call center environment requiring strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to provide excellent customer service while handling a large volume of inbound calls.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer a high volume of inbound customer calls regarding benefits, disability, paid family leave, and related programs.
• Assist customers by providing accurate information and resolving inquiries in a professional manner.
• Create and maintain detailed records of customer interactions within company systems.
• Enter call notes and update customer information while actively speaking with callers.
• Follow established scripts, procedures, and escalation processes.
• Execute warm transfers and route inquiries to the appropriate departments when necessary.
• Maintain quality, productivity, and service-level standards.
• Provide exceptional customer service on every interaction.

Required Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of experience in a high-volume healthcare or medical call center environment.
• Experience handling approximately 100-150 inbound calls per day .
• Strong phone etiquette and professional communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle difficult conversations.
• Strong data entry and documentation abilities.
• Comfortable navigating multiple systems while speaking with customers.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Schedule Requirements

• Training schedule: Generally between 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM .
• After training, representatives must be available to work 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Must be willing to work occasional Saturday shifts and overtime as business needs require.
• Contact Center operating hours are 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM .

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CRM or case management systems such as Salesforce.
• Benefits, insurance, disability, or healthcare customer service experience.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
