General Building Maintenance Technician (Plumbing Experience Preferred)Job Description

We are seeking a skilled General Building Maintenance Technician with plumbing experience to support the maintenance, repair, and operation of commercial facilities in the St. Louis, MO area. This role is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks, including plumbing repairs, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting building systems, and general facility upkeep. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, able to work independently, and committed to providing a safe and functional environment for building occupants.

• Perform general building maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems including pipes, valves, fixtures, drains, and water distribution systems.
• Complete routine inspections of building systems to identify maintenance needs and prevent equipment failures.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations in a timely manner.
• Assist with minor electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and mechanical repairs as needed.
• Maintain and repair restrooms, break rooms, common areas, and facility infrastructure.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete maintenance tasks.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, and work orders.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety policies, building codes, and maintenance standards.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, contractors, and facility occupants regarding maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work and preventative maintenance activities.
• Prioritize multiple work orders while maintaining quality and attention to detail.

• Experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or commercial property maintenance.
• Plumbing experience including installation, repair, and troubleshooting of plumbing systems.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and facility operations.
• Ability to use common maintenance hand and power tools.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with building safety regulations and maintenance best practices.

• Experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, manufacturing, or educational facilities.
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, carpentry, or mechanical systems.
• Experience working in a facilities maintenance environment.
• Trade school education, maintenance certifications, or plumbing certifications are a plus.

This position operates within a commercial facilities maintenance environment, supporting multiple building systems and campus facilities. Work includes preventative maintenance, repair projects, and responding to service requests throughout the property. Technicians regularly work alongside other maintenance trades and contractors while helping ensure the facility remains safe, comfortable, and fully operational.

This is a Permanent position based out of St. Louis, MO.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
