The Boring Company HR ManagerThe Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.ResponsibilitiesPoint of contact for all HR matters such as benefits, compensation, training, payroll, and employee relations.Manage performance, investigations, make recommendations for corrective action, and lead terminations.Maintain a productive relationship with managers in Las Vegas; meet regularly to discuss morale, areas of improvement, and performance.Review and respond to matters complex in nature that have been escalated due to risk, urgency, or severity.Manage the integration, configuration, and administration of HR systems.Outline team priorities and timelines and manage team performance toward achieving goals.Primary point of contact for entire Las Vegas operation.Key partner with HR operations on HR systems including onboarding, workers' compensation, and LOA managementApprove time cards, modify pay rates, implement one-off payments, and ensure payment of salaried and hourly employees bi-weekly.Facilitate the new-hire onboarding process, including generating offer letters, and auditing background checks.Lead HR initiatives and projects.Basic QualificationsBachelor's Degree.5+ years of experience in an HR leadership position.Preferred Skills and Experience8+ years of experience in an HR leadership position.SHRM-SCP certification.Acute attention to detail and strong multitasking skills.Ability to work independently and with little direction.Ability to quickly and reasonably prioritize tasks.Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate with internal/external customers, vendors, management etc. in both formal and informal situations.An analytical mindset that thrives on formulating strategy and presenting data.Highly organized with a strong sense of urgency.Additional RequirementsPosition may require extended hours and weekend work.Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed.
