Our fleet maintenance technicians play a critical role in ensuring our trucks are in great shape for our delivery drivers.General PurposePerform the majority of truck and/or trailer maintenance and repairs with minimal support of others, ensuring that equipment is available and in optimal operating condition.Work with the assistance of other mechanics or supervisors when performing highly technical or intricate diagnostic repairs.Work under minimal supervision, exercising some judgment and discretion in resolving issues or making repairs.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform basic to moderately difficult vehicle and preventive maintenance, component replacements, and repairsMaintain, repair, inspect, and/or replace brakes, steering mechanisms, springs, air bags, lights, air conditioners, water, fuel, oil, air filters, coolant and chemicals, transmissions, tire air pressure, tire tread, tires, chassis, drive lines, u-joints, air tanks, batteries, air lines, power cords, wipers, mirrors, drive train components, or other equipment as necessaryPerform facility maintenance dutiesUse shop management system and other electronic systems availableDiagnose mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer when applicableIdentify root cause of failures/conditions and perform repairs as requiredInteract with drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a taskWork in accordance with all federal, state, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT)Complete work orders and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining high quality standards in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP's)Respond to accidents or inoperable vehicles to transport equipment back to shop for repair, if appropriateKeep management informed of safety, operator, and equipment observations and concernsAssist in identifying opportunities to improve processes, utilizing continuous improvement mindsetMaintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area which may include wearing of all required personal protective equipment in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.Assist and mentor less experienced mechanicsThe requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as requiredEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred2 to 4 years of mechanic, maintenance, or related experience preferred but not required.Reefer/Refrigeration maintenance experience preferredCertification and/or License – Mechanic certification, CDL license, refrigeration license, or other relevant certifications or licenses preferred but not required.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesSkill with engines, anti-lock braking system, transmission, diagnostic equipment, and softwareBasic computer skillsKnowledge and understanding of DOT regulationsAble to read and understand driver inspection reportsAble to assist other mechanics on complex repairs in a safe and useful mannerAble to operate tools, equipment, and peripheral accessoriesAble to independently access and use internal and external maintenance documentsAble to work in a team environmentAble to perform tasks and duties without constant supervisionAble to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writingAble to follow directionsAble to problem solveAble to work in a fast-paced environmentMust be able to read, write and speak EnglishAn Equal Opportunity Employer including Disabled/Veterans
