Recreation Aide-1 Department: Parks and Recreation • Location: 9800 4th St NW #2125 • Pay Range: $15.55 - $20.01 • Close Date: July 24, 2026 Overview The Recreation Aide assists recreation staff in delivering a variety of programs, planning activities for diverse age groups, and supporting the setup and maintenance of indoor and outdoor program spaces. Responsibilities Carry out recreational programs and activities as directed. Enforce facility and activity rules to ensure participant safety. Assist with classes, events, and programs; actively engage participants, including those requiring inclusion support. Lead and organize arts and crafts projects and recreational recycling activities. Schedule and coordinate activities and facility use in cooperation with the supervisor. Set up and maintain program areas for indoor and outdoor use; perform light maintenance as needed. Perform cashier duties and assist with maintaining daily transaction reports, when assigned. Handle sensitive or confidential information in accordance with County policies. Participate in basic first aid, CPR, and AED training. Assist participants during summer lunch activities, including sorting, packaging, and recycling. Complete daily reports. Minimum Qualifications Current enrollment in high school, high school diploma, or GED. Must be 15 years old or older. Supplemental Information Successful completion of a post‑offer medical examination and background investigation. Adherence to all County safety guidelines. Completion of all required FEMA training, supervisor training (if applicable), and basic first aid/CPR/AED skills training. Possession of a valid New Mexico driver’s license by the date of hire and maintenance of a valid license while employed. Drive multi‑passenger vehicles as needed, subject to safety and licensing requirements. Work variable hours, indoors (60%) and outdoors (40%). Working Conditions Work both indoors and outdoors, exposed to natural weather conditions. Duties performed on sand, gravel, asphalt, grass, wood floors, and tile, which may be wet or dry. Regular exposure to sports activities and normal hazards associated with instruction and participation. Equipment, Tools, and Materials Sports equipment for baseball, basketball, football, soccer, tennis, etc. Arts and crafts supplies. Clerical supplies including telephone, computer, copier, and basic office supplies. Maintenance supplies such as mops, brooms, buffers, cleaning solutions, and equipment.
