Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional Vocational Tech [Electricity] Teacher who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. The role supports a vision of high expectations, equal access, and closing the achievement gap. Reports to: Principal/Head of School Responsibilities Teach: Electricity. Provide a vocational technical course of study aligned to state curriculum frameworks and meeting student learning needs while maintaining a safe learning environment. Align vocational technical skills and content with the school’s curriculum map to achieve equitable student outcomes. Earn and/or maintain all required licensure. Employment experience: 5 years of full‑time experience directly related to the field. Occupational License/Industry Certification: Current Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician license and/or current Massachusetts Master Electrician license. Ability to earn a Massachusetts Vocational Tech Teaching License (subject 9‑14) by passing required exams. Ability to earn a Massachusetts Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement. Meeting the Standards of Effective Teaching established by Boston Public Schools. Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment. Qualifications – Preferred Experience teaching in urban schools and/or industry setting. OSHA‑10 certification or willingness to obtain it. Industry‑recognized credentials that are part of the curriculum and ability to train students to earn them. Fluency in an official BPS language (Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali). Certification in subject area and, where possible, Moderate Disabilities or English as a Second Language at appropriate grade level(s). Terms BTU, Group I. Salary and compensation information is available on the BPS website and is listed by unions and grade/step. Start and end times of BPS schools vary, as does the length of the school day. Some schools have a longer day through the Schedule A Expanded Learning Time agreement.
