Senior Controls EngineerAs our Senior Controls Engineer, you will support and maintain critical industrial control systems across utility and power generation assets, with primary focus on the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant at The Ohio State University. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving control systems including PLCs, distributed control systems (DCS), industrial networks, and historian platforms. The position requires a self-directed engineer capable of supporting real-time operations, commissioning activities, and long-term system reliability. This position participates in on-call rotation and may require support outside normal business hours. This role will report to the Project Management Manager.You will:Support day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems across CHP and utility assetsMaintain and optimize Rockwell PlantPAx DCS, Allen-Bradley PLCs, and FactoryTalk applicationsDiagnose and resolve issues related to PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, and field instrumentationSupport commissioning, startup, and system integration activitiesMaintain historian systems (eDNA, AVEVA PI), ensuring data integrity and interface reliabilityCollaborate with operations, maintenance, IT/OT teams, and third-party vendorsSupport industrial network infrastructure (switches, firewalls, protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC)Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and ENGIE OT policiesDevelop and maintain technical documentation (control narratives, network diagrams, configurations)Identify and implement system improvements to enhance reliability and performanceWhat You'll BringA minimum associates degree in Electrical/Electronics or Controls with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience or in lieu of an associates degreeAdditional DetailsThis role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basisMust be available to travel domestically up to 10% of the timeMust be willing to participate in on-call rotations and may require support outside normal business hoursMust possess a valid U.S. driver's license; may drive company vehicleMust be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policiesThis position consists of 20% of outdoor workDemonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and lead resolution of complex controls issues using Allen-Bradley PLCs, FactoryTalk, and PlantPAx (or equivalent DCS platforms such as PCS7 or Ovation)Experience in power generation, utilities, or other mission-critical industrial environments with a strong understanding of industrial networking and OT systemsExperience utilizing historian platforms such as eDNA and AVEVA PI for operational monitoring, analysis, and performance improvementFamiliarity with industrial cybersecurity practices and applying security principles within industrial control systems environmentsAbility to work safely in industrial plant settings, including heat, noise, confined spaces, and elevated areas, while effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentCompensationSalary Range: $102,000 – $156,000 USD annually. This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
