Compliance Specialist

Position Overview
The role is tasked with regulatory compliance and certification processes for a well-established residential community operating within federally regulated housing programs.
This role serves as the internal authority on compliance execution, ensuring all resident eligibility, documentation, and reporting processes meet program requirements while maintaining operational efficiency and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Program Compliance & Oversight
- Manage full-cycle certification processes, including periodic and event-driven eligibility reviews
- Ensure adherence to all applicable program requirements, regulatory agreements, and compliance standards
- Support internal and external audit activities, reviews, and inspections
- Interpret regulatory updates and implement procedural adjustments as needed
- Oversee income verification processes using third-party systems and resolve discrepancies
Certification & Documentation
- Process initial certifications and ongoing eligibility updates
- Maintain organized, audit-ready resident and applicant files in accordance with compliance standards
- Ensure completion, accuracy, and timeliness of all required documentation
- Track and manage occupancy and compliance-related data within internal systems
Operational Support
- Assist with administrative and reporting functions tied to compliance operations
- Perform light financial processing tasks, including payment tracking and invoice support
- Collaborate with leadership on compliance initiatives and operational improvements
- Provide cross-functional support to ensure smooth daily office operations
Qualifications
- Experience working within regulated housing, compliance, or eligibility-driven programs preferred
- Familiarity with certification processes, audit preparation, or adherence to federal/state program guidelines
- Experience with compliance systems or databases (property management or verification platforms a plus)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation management skills
- Ability to interpret guidelines and apply them consistently in a fast-paced environment
