Senior Buyer (Electronics & Trailer Assembly Manufacturing)

Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000

Role Summary:

The Senior Buyer is responsible for purchasing electronics components, wire harnesses, PCBA subassemblies, fabricated metal parts, and production materials used in trailer assembly. This role manages both internal purchasing and coordination with contract manufacturers (CMs) to ensure uninterrupted supply at optimal cost, quality, and lead time. The Senior Buyer supports Engineering, Production, Planning, and Quality to maintain reliable material flow in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Purchasing & Planning:

· Convert MRP/ERP demand intoaccurate and timely purchase orders for electronics, mechanical components, lighting, harnesses, chassis parts, and consumables.

· Maintain accurate lead times, MOQs, cost records, and planning parameters within SAGE/MAS90.

· Conduct RFQs and cost analysis, negotiate pricing, terms, and cost‑reduction opportunities.

· Monitor supplier confirmations, delivery promises, and proactively manage shortages.

Supplier & Contract Manufacturer Management:

· Develop strong relationships with electronics suppliers, metal fabricators, harness shops, and CMs.

· Manage supplier performance for cost, delivery, quality, and responsiveness.

· Support supplier onboarding, compliance verification, and maintenance of approved supplier lists (ASL).

· Coordinate forecasts, capacity updates, and build schedules with contract manufacturers.

Engineering & Change Control:

· Support BOM creation and maintenance; verify AVL/AML compliance.

· Assist with implementation of ECR/ECO changes including phase‑in/phase‑out (PIPO).

· Work with Engineering to evaluate alternates, resolve EOL issues, and improve manufacturability/cost.

Production Support & Expediting:

· Monitor material availability daily and drive actions to prevent line‑stops.

· Resolve shortages, adjust PO priorities, and reconcile delivery discrepancies.

· Partner with Planning on build schedules and recovery plans.

Cost, Risk & Compliance:

· Deliver measurable cost savings/avoidance through negotiation, resourcing, and value engineering.

· Identify supply risks and develop mitigation strategies (buffer stock, alternates, dual sourcing).

Required Qualifications:

· 5+ years purchasing experience in manufacturing.

· Strong background in purchasing electronics components, PCBAs, wire harnesses, and trailer or mechanical assembly components.

· SAGE / MAS90 experience strongly preferred.

· Proficient with MRP/ERP, BOM structures, engineering drawings, and basic GD&T.

· Excellent negotiation, supplier management, and cost analysis skills.

· Proficient in Excel, Office, and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience managing contract manufacturers for turnkey or consignment builds.

· Familiarity with ISO 9001 purchasing and change control processes.

· Knowledge of compliance areas including RoHS/REACH, conflict minerals, UL, and FMC/lighting standards
