EngineerCarrier Control Box Group designs, develops, and manufactures control and control panel solutions for the HVAC, refrigeration, and other OEM related markets globally. Carrier is seeking an Engineer to be based in Fort Wayne, IN. The available opportunity is a critical and comprehensive role within the Control Box Engineering group. Carrier is a fast-paced and growing business, and we are looking for a team player who will help us achieve and exceed product and business growth targets while simultaneously driving improved quality and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will work as a member of an engineering design team that develops electrical control panels and enclosures from concept through production including analysis of component selections and layouts to ensure a robust and cost competitive panel design.Key ResponsibilitiesInteraction with team members both internal and external to create new control box designs and features according to their specificationsManagement of your own workflow for assigned projectsProvide mechanical design, drafting, and analysis expertise in the areas of sheet metal, fasteners, and enclosures for electrical panels for use in the HVAC and adjacent industriesCreation and design of enclosures that meet varying levels of ingress protectionLayout of electrical and electro-mechanical devices within enclosures followed by layout and design of wiring harnesses to interconnect inside and outside the enclosureCreation of manufacturing drawing/documentation packages in accordance with industrial drawing practices and standardsUtilization of PTC Creo to create models, assemblies, and perform mechanical analysisAssembly and evaluation of physical mock-ups of control boxes and panelsManage electronic Engineering Change Notice (ECN) generation and implementation through the Windchill product data management systemEvaluation and approval of components with suppliers to meet requirements for function and performanceAdminister or participate in project design reviewsEvaluation of mechanical failures in our products to determine root cause and corrective actionsSupport of sustaining products including quality improvements, cost reductions, component obsolescence, and failure analysisTravel to customer, supplier, and manufacturing sites to support concept generation and pre-production buildsRequired QualificationsBachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, 3+ years of experiencePay RangeThe annual salary for this position is between $64,500.00 - $129,500.00 annually.
