Job Details:


• Variable shift hours with options including 7:00 AM-7:00 PM, 7:30 AM-7:30 PM, 10:00 AM-10:00 PM, or 7:00 PM-7:00 AM
• Acute care setting within a 12-bed emergency department
• Fast track urgent care available within the ED from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• Weekend requirements vary by shift: day and mid shifts every third weekend, night shifts every other weekend
• Holiday requirements on a rotating every-other basis
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Occasional floating to support other units as needed
• Scrub color: Navy blue
• Charting system: Cerner
• Unit orientation: 1-2 days per standard agency protocol
• Must be comfortable with triage responsibilities
• Must have experience with trauma, pediatrics, sepsis, STEMI, stroke, procedural sedation, and code blue/resuscitations
• Must be comfortable managing common drips including vasopressors and anti-arrhythmics
• RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips (GE Carescape monitors)
• RNs perform the majority of lab draws
• On rare occasions when respiratory therapy is unavailable, RN may be required to set up a ventilator
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, PALS (AHA), TNCC


Facility:


This acute care emergency department operates a 12-bed ED with an additional 12-bed urgent care available during daytime hours, bringing total capacity to 24 beds. The facility is a Level 4 Trauma Center with thrombolytic therapy capabilities for both STEMI and stroke patients, transporting out for interventional procedures. The department is supported by a charge nurse who takes patient assignments, a 24/7 house supervisor, and variable ancillary staff including secretaries, technicians, and paramedics. Respiratory therapy is typically available on site and the department is supported by both physicians and mid-level providers.
