We are looking for an interim Accounting Manager to provide leadership across core accounting activities for a manufacturing operation in Dallas, Texas. This Contract position will play a central role in cost and inventory accounting, financial analysis, and operational reporting, while working closely with finance and operations partners. The person in this role will also guide an Accounting Supervisor and help strengthen reporting processes through effective use of business systems and Excel-based analysis.

This is a 2-3month contract position

100% ONSITE 5 days a week near downtown Dallas

Interim Accounting Manager (contract position):

Responsibilities:

• Direct daily accounting activities for a manufacturing business, ensuring financial records are maintained accurately and on schedule.

• Lead cost accounting efforts by reviewing product costs, monitoring standard cost performance, and investigating manufacturing variances.

• Oversee accounting tied to inventory movements and bill of materials structures to support accurate valuation and reporting.

• Extract information from business systems and convert data into meaningful Excel reports for analysis, trend review, and decision support.

• Build and refine recurring reports using advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables and large-volume data organization.

• Maintain the integrity of financial information related to production activity, inventory transactions, and month-end close processes.

• Supervise and support an Accounting Supervisor through coaching, prioritization, and day-to-day guidance.

• Partner with accounting, finance, and operational teams to address business needs, resolve issues, and improve financial visibility.

• Contribute to process enhancements and more efficient use of systems and reporting tools across the accounting function.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Progressive accounting experience that includes leadership responsibility within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, bill of materials, and standard costing practices.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities, including pivot tables, data analysis, and data manipulation.
• Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger activity, and month-end close deliverables.
• Ability to pull, export, and interpret system data for financial reporting and operational analysis.
• Background working with SAP Business ByDesign is preferred but not mandatory.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a detail-oriented approach to working across teams.
