Senior Director, Global Marketing Cell Therapy

Within the AstraZeneca Cell Therapy Enterprise, our ambition is to realize the full potential of cell therapy for people living with cancer, immune-mediated and rare diseases around the world. This unit has responsibility for the value chain from discovery through to late-stage development and commercialization. We are rapidly progressing a broad pipeline of cell therapies in collaboration with AstraZeneca's Therapeutic Area Units.

We have an exciting opportunity to work in the Global Cell Therapy Franchise as the Senior Director, Global Marketing, Cell Therapy . This role, reporting into the Global Commercial Head for Cell Therapy, will help shape and drive the global commercial strategy for the cell therapy portfolio across multiple indications, translating emerging evidence, patient needs, and market insights into differentiated development and commercialization strategies.

This role is a pivotal opportunity within the Cell Therapy Enterprise and a key contributor to our ambition to transform outcomes for patients with serious diseases. You will shape the early commercial strategy for a promising cell therapy asset or disease area within the Cell Therapy portfolio, which spans hematology, oncology, autoimmune disease, and rare diseases. This will require partnering across Research & Development, Clinical, Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Supply, and country teams. You will help define differentiated treatment delivery models, patient pathways, launch capabilities, and go-to-market strategies, ensuring commercial considerations are embedded throughout development. You bring a strategic and enterprise mindset, commercial acumen, and the ability to translate emerging evidence, unmet need, and market dynamics into differentiated development and commercialization choices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop the global brand strategy and launch plan for Cell Therapy, including positioning, promotional strategy, and the go-to-market model.

• Build the global capabilities, customer journeys, and treatment delivery models required to support launch readiness and execution.

• Translate global strategy into clear implementation plans for regions and priority markets.

• Partner across Medical, Market Access, Patient Affairs, Clinical, Regulatory, Analytics & Insights, Manufacturing, Supply, and country teams to align development and commercialization plans.

• Integrate commercial insights—market opportunity, customer needs, competitive positioning, pricing, access, and treatment-delivery considerations—into development, regulatory, and portfolio decisions.

• Serve as the commercial subject matter expert, enabling markets and cross-functional partners to execute the strategy and launch playbook effectively.

• Track launch-readiness, site activation, treatment delivery, customer experience, and other relevant KPIs; provide performance insights and recommendations.

• Maintain brand consistency across marketing initiatives and communications.

• Manage the global brand budget and optimize resource allocation. Manage relationships and budgets with external agency partners to execute the brand and launch strategy.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry across brand marketing, sales, market research, analytics, strategic planning, or commercial leadership.

• Direct cell therapy, gene therapy, or advanced therapy experience. Global experience across major markets is an advantage.

• Experience leading multiple indications simultaneously.

• Broad global commercial experience including pre-launch and launch.

• Experience shaping early commercial strategy and influencing development decisions for pre-launch or pipeline assets.
• Demonstrated use of insights to develop effective commercial strategies.

• Demonstrated ability to develop compelling business cases and influence senior stakeholders.

• Ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities with a high degree of autonomy.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline; MBA, PhD, PharmD, or other advanced degree preferred.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $231,988 to $347,983. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
