Registered Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse – Charge Nurse (Full-Time, Day Shift)

This full-time Charge Nurse role offers an opportunity for a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care in a senior living environment. You will coordinate and deliver resident-centered care, oversee nursing services on your shift, and ensure adherence to clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. Working closely with an interdisciplinary team, you will support resident assessments, care planning, medication management, and staff supervision while contributing to a supportive and collaborative care culture.

Responsibilities

• Promote and support the organization's mission, vision, and values in all aspects of resident care and team interactions.
• Maintain a safe and respectful environment by following infection control practices and protecting resident rights.
• Assess residents upon admission and regularly thereafter, developing and updating individualized care plans based on clinical findings and changing needs.
• Monitor resident conditions, identify changes in status, and promptly communicate significant findings to appropriate staff and providers.
• Ensure cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards are consistently maintained within the unit and resident care areas.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following established protocols and scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate and timely medication records, including documentation of administration and controlled substance inventories.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and orientation of new staff members to promote consistent and high-quality care practices.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and optimize resident care.
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, providing appropriate nursing interventions and support.
• Notify physicians and family members of significant changes in resident conditions and document all communications as required.
• Perform nursing procedures within the scope of practice, including wound care, catheterization, tube feedings, and related treatments.
• Obtain specimens as ordered and ensure documentation and lab-related processes are completed accurately and on time.
• Monitor residents who require intensive observation or intervention, adjusting care plans and interventions as needed.
• Supervise nursing assistants and medication aides, providing coaching, direction, and support to ensure high standards of resident care.
• Carry out physician orders in accordance with established procedures and ensure follow-through on care directives.
• Support additional departmental and resident care needs as assigned, contributing to a cohesive and efficient care team.
• Engage in case management and care management activities to coordinate services and support residents' overall health and well-being.
• Participate in quality improvement efforts, professional development opportunities, and committee involvement to enhance care delivery.

Essential Skills

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team.
• Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and make independent decisions in a variety of care situations.
• Knowledge of nursing practices and standards, including geriatric care principles and senior living facility care.
• Understanding of applicable regulations and healthcare standards relevant to long-term care and senior living environments.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities to guide nursing assistants and medication aides.
• Commitment to a compassionate, patient-focused approach to resident care.
• Ability to adapt to changing healthcare practices and evolving resident needs.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
• Physical ability to push or pull up to 60 pounds, lift up to 50 pounds, and carry up to 15 pounds to safely support resident care.
• Proficiency in core nursing skills such as medication administration, wound care, catheter care, tube feedings, and emergency response.
• Experience or familiarity with case management, care management, and patient care coordination in a healthcare setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working as a Charge Nurse or in a leadership role within a senior living facility, long-term care, or similar setting.
• Background in medical-surgical, geriatric, or long-term care nursing.
• Experience in health care environments requiring coordination with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and advanced practice providers.
• Comfort with managing multiple residents' care needs simultaneously and prioritizing tasks effectively.
• Interest in ongoing professional development, including participation in training, education, and scholarship opportunities.
• Willingness to engage in wellness programs, committee work, and other initiatives that support quality improvement and resident well-being.

Work Environment

This role is based in a senior living facility that provides comprehensive nursing and supportive services to older adults. The position is full-time on the day shift, with additional shift differentials available for nights and weekends when applicable. The Charge Nurse works in a clinical environment that emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and adherence to infection control standards. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of nurses, nursing assistants, medication aides, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The role requires regular standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling to support residents safely and effectively. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $63648.00 - $98945.00/yr.
