About This Role

Penny Lane Childcare is seeking caring and dependable assistant teachers to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. Responsibilities include implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities, supporting children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, maintaining classroom routines, ensuring health and safety standards are met, and building positive relationships with families. Team members collaborate with coworkers, participate in professional development, document children’s progress, and follow all licensing and center policies. Ideal candidates are passionate about early childhood education and committed to helping children learn, grow, and thrive.

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum.
• Supervise and support children’s learning, development, and daily routines.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
• Promote positive behavior, social skills, and self-help skills.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding children’s progress and daily experiences.
• Observe and document children’s development and milestones.
• Collaborate with coworkers and participate in trainings and staff meetings.
• Follow all state licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and center policies.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must successfully pass required FBI background checks and drug screenings.
• Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification required (or obtained upon hire).
• Ability to meet all Indiana state licensing, Paths to Quality, and NAEYC standards.
• Must participate in required orientation and annual professional development training.

• Previous experience working in a childcare center, preschool, or early childhood setting.
• Knowledge of Indiana Early Learning Standards.
• Familiarity with Paths to Quality and NAEYC accreditation standards.
• Experience working with children with diverse learning needs, IEPs, or developmental delays.
• Bilingual skills
• Strong classroom management and positive behavior guidance skills.
• Experience communicating with families through apps
• A passion for creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences for young children.
