About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 26-bed PCU/Stepdown unit serving surgical, oncology, sickle cell, and general medical patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6
• Perform and manage clinical skills including blood administration, skeletal and buck's traction, wound care, wound vac management, drains (JP, CT), heparin drips, high-flow oxygen, stable BiPAP, and PCA pain management
• Utilize remote telemetry monitoring and collaborate with resource teams including sepsis response and rapid response
• May be responsible for lab collections depending on phlebotomy staffing availability
• Float to mixed acuity units as needed
• Document accurately using Cerner EMR and operate unit equipment including Plum ICU Medical IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care (STAC) experience required
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required

• 3 or more years of stepdown or progressive care unit experience preferred
• Prior experience with Cerner EMR, Omnicell, and Plum ICU Medical IV pumps
• Experience caring for post-operative surgical patients including GI, orthopedic, trauma, and GYN/ONC populations
• Familiarity with PCA management, wound vac therapy, and stable BiPAP patients

• Work within a highly collaborative, team-oriented unit culture supported by CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapy 24/7, hospitalists, intensivists, specialists, a vascular access team, and a shift coordinator
