This role supports a new High Flow Line facility focused on standardizing builds and producing less customized trucks more efficiently. Material Handlers will operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) and material handling equipment in various areas, including yard support, dock support, and picking/putaway, depending on skills and experience. The position involves frequent use of sit-down forklifts and other heavy equipment to move large components, unload trucks, stage materials, and support production lines with accurate and timely material flow.

Responsibilities

• Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT), including sit-down forklifts, order pickers, and larger equipment such as tractors and high-capacity lifts, to move materials safely and efficiently.

• Support yard operations by handling large commodities such as firetruck cabs and bodies, spending approximately 75–80% of the day on PIT equipment.

• Provide material handling support in production areas by spending about 75% of the day on sit-down forklifts, staging parts and delivering materials to designated lines.

• Perform dock support by unloading incoming trucks, moving pallets and materials, and staging items in the correct areas, spending about 90% of the day on sit-down forklifts.

• Execute picking and putaway activities by operating a mix of order pickers and sit-down forklifts, spending approximately 95% of the day on PIT equipment.

• Use RF scanners and related systems to complete picks, record putaway transactions, and ensure accurate inventory movements.

• Assist with staging orders and parts deliveries to support modline and other production teams as needed.

• Handle loading and unloading tasks for various materials, ensuring items are placed in the correct locations according to established procedures.

• Follow standard operating procedures to support the standardization of builds and contribute to efficient production flow.

• Collaborate with team members and remain flexible to help in different areas of the facility as operational needs change.

• Maintain a safe and organized work area by following all safety guidelines and equipment operating procedures.

• Perform basic data entry in ERP or related systems, such as JDE or similar platforms, when required for material movement and inventory updates.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of forklift experience, primarily with sit-down forklifts.

• Proven material handling experience, including moving large or heavy commodities.

• Hands-on experience with powered industrial trucks (PIT), such as sit-down forklifts, order pickers, and larger material handling equipment.

• Experience with RF scanners or the ability to quickly learn scanner use based on comfort with mobile devices.

• Experience with an ERP system, such as JDE or similar, for basic data entry related to material movements.

• Demonstrated experience in picking, putaway, staging orders, loading, and unloading materials.

• Ability to safely operate forklifts and other PIT equipment for extended periods throughout the shift.

• Strong attention to detail to ensure materials are staged and stored in correct locations.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.

• Willingness to rotate between yard support, dock support, and picking/putaway as business needs require.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Broad experience covering multiple material handling functions, including picking, forklift operation, RF scanning, staging, loading, and unloading.

• Familiarity with JDE or other ERP systems used in manufacturing or distribution environments.

• Comfort working with large vehicle components, such as truck cabs and bodies.

• Ability to adapt to new processes and support the startup of a new facility.

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.

• Reliability and consistency in attendance and performance to support ongoing operations and future opportunities.

Work Environment

This position is based in a new High Flow Line (HFL) facility designed to produce less customized trucks more efficiently, with a strong focus on standardized builds and streamlined material flow. The work environment is highly dynamic, with new processes and positions being established, so the ability to go with the flow and help in different areas is essential. Team members spend the majority of their day operating powered industrial trucks, including sit-down forklifts, order pickers, and larger equipment such as tractors and high-capacity lifts. The facility includes yard areas for handling large components, docks for unloading and staging materials, and warehouse or production areas for picking and putaway activities. RF scanners and integrated systems that pair with ERP platforms such as JDE are used to support inventory accuracy and material tracking. The role offers two primary shift options: a first shift, with a preferred schedule of four 10-hour days (4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) or the potential for five 8-hour days, and a second shift of four 10-hour days from 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight. The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and flexibility, with an expectation that employees support multiple functions as needed to help successfully stand up and sustain the new facility.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.23 - $22.62/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
