We are pioneers in fully leveraging Athletic Trainers (ATs) in our metro area practice. Our ATs have more responsibilities, such as doing physical examinations and some are even able to scrub into the OR.Key Position Details:1.0 FTE Athletic Trainer position in our clinic orthopedic department (80 hour every 2 week pay period)8 hour day shift 8:00-5:00pmNo nights, weekends, or holidaysMeet our Care Team members - Athletic TrainerJob Description:Provides and coordinates care for patients across the continuum in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, podiatrists and other clinical team members. Provides periodic outreach athletic training medical services to the community.Principle ResponsibilitiesProvides clinical servicesPerforms rooming and age appropriate vitals, reviews medication, allergy, and tobacco history, and documents reason for visit in accordance with established protocols.Gathers complete patient histories and conducts Reviews of Systems, including past medical, surgical, social, and family history.Performs initial patient examinations and summarizes findings and test results to the provider for review and direction.Documents accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.Provides patient care and education before and after encounters or procedures as directed by the provider.Coordinates care activities with physicians and other clinical team members to support efficient patient flow.Assists with specimen collection, labeling, and processing.Administers therapies or treatments as directed by the provider.Follows through to resolve service problems promptly and professionally with involvement of appropriate clinic personnel.Communicates with providers and clinical team members to organize and prioritize assigned work to support patient care.Utilization of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and Casting/SplintingApplies and removes casts and splints according to established procedures.Provides basic patient education on cast, splint, and DME care.Fits DME and provides instruction on proper usesCompletes required documentation and billing paperwork accurately.Provides injury prevention and coordination to student athletesProvides support and care through attendance at practices and games as outlined by Outreach or Organization contracts.Coordinates the clinical access of the injured athlete.Supervises the conditioning and/or rehabilitation of the student athlete in the Outreach setting.Acts as a member of the care team in the athletic clinic setting.Develops the plan and assist the athlete in injury rehab process.Performs effective assessment, first aid, and rehabilitation of the injured.Assesses the recovery of the injured athlete and initiate changes based on knowledge and consultation with the care team.Maintains records on students treated for injuries.Gives concise, effective information to student athletes, parents, patients and family regarding care, self-care and follow-up.Cooperation with other clinical areas and agencies focusing on patient centered care.Assists with maintaining communication and physical referrals.Maintains a safe environment for self and athlete by using equipment properly.Assesses and reports environmental risks or equipment malfunctions.Provides outreach athletic training medical services in addition to standard work week, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays.Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsMaster’s degree in Athletic Training required OR Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training prior to 2022Basic proficiency in electronic medical record documentationPreferred QualificationsExperience in an orthopedic, sports medicine, or outpatient clinical settingLicenses/CertificationsLicensed Athletic Trainer - MN Board of Medical Practice required if providing services in MN upon hireLicensed Athletic Trainer - WI Dept of Safety & Professional Services required if providing services in WI upon hireCertified Athletic Trainer - Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer required upon hireMust meet at least ONE of the requirements below:BLS certification from the American Heart AssociationBLS certification from the American Red CrossAllina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)Physical DemandsMedium Work:Lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequentlyPay RangePay Range: $27.65 to $37.90 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
