Position Summary
The Facilities and Operations Coordinator supports the daily operations and event management of SDSU Athletics, assisting with athletic facility coordination, home contests, special events, and administrative functions. Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director of Operations - Special Events & Projects, this role helps ensure athletic events and facilities are safe, organized, and operated efficiently in support of student-athletes and departmental goals.

Position Information
The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University. Currently, there are 18 sport programs, approximately 550 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following: The Aztec Club, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Corporate Sales, Development, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.

Education and Experience

- Serve as event manager for designated sports and assist with NCAA and conference championship events.
- Coordinate with campus departments and external partners to support event logistics, safety, and facility operations.
- Support daily facilities operations, including maintenance coordination, access control, credentials, and facility projects.
- Provide administrative and fiscal support, including budgeting assistance, purchase orders, contracts, and supervision of student staff and interns.
- Gain hands-on experience in Division I athletics facilities and event operations.
- Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment supporting high-profile athletic events.
- Develop skills in event management, facilities coordination, and athletics administration.
- Contribute to a department committed to diversity, inclusion, and student-athlete success.
- Build professional experience across multiple athletic venues and sports programs.
Position Information
- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027, with the possibility of reappointment.
- This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. (Ability to work evenings and weekends)
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Key Qualifications
- At least six months to one-year of experience in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics, professional sport(s), or a Facilities and Operations office.
- Experience in training and leading student workers.
- Experience staging football and basketball events and serving as the game day manager for various sports.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions in a timely and professional manner.
- Ability to plan, organize, and schedule athletic activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively utilize Windows based applications including Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook, and Astra.
- Must possess fiscal responsibility and ability to interpret budgets.
- Valid California driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

Compensation :
Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department's budget and equity guidelines.
- Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,482) .
- Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,482 - $6,530 per month (Step 1 - Step 20).
- Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
