Staff Accountant

A privately held manufacturing company is seeking a Staff Accountant to support accounting operations, financial reporting, cost tracking, and internal financial processes. The organization serves a variety of commercial customers and offers a hands‑on environment where the accounting team works closely with operations, logistics, and leadership. Position Overview The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month‑end close, preparing reconciliations, supporting financial reporting, and helping track product‑related costs. This role is a strong fit for someone with general accounting experience who enjoys detail‑oriented work and collaborating across departments. Key Responsibilities Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Assist with month‑end and year‑end close activities. Maintain general ledger accuracy and support financial reporting. Perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and internal reporting. Help ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and properly documented. Support audit requests by gathering schedules, records, and backup documentation. Work with internal teams to track inventory‑related costs and cost allocations. Assist with reviewing freight, purchasing, and vendor‑related charges for accuracy. Support analysis of outside cost factors that may impact product margins. Reconcile cost‑related accounts and assist with identifying discrepancies. Help improve accounting processes, reporting tools, and internal workflows. Collaborate with finance, operations, purchasing, and logistics teams on accounting‑related projects. Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Prior accounting experience in a corporate, manufacturing, or public accounting environment. Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, debits and credits, and account reconciliations. Experience with general ledger accounting, month‑end close, and financial reporting. Familiarity with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms. Exposure to inventory, cost accounting, purchasing, or freight‑related accounting is a plus. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to organize financial data and communicate findings clearly. Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.
